Keywords wrap-up

As you begin your search for sources, keep your research question and table of broader, narrower, and alternative terms by your side. You may find yourself adding to the list as you learn more about your topic.

There are many other strategies for generating keywords, including:

  • Concept mapping, free writing, or listing.
  • Underlining key terms in your background information
  • Looking up terms in a thesaurus or in a database's list of Subject Terms
