Embedded Tutoring

What is embedded tutoring?

Embedded tutoring is a form of Supplemental Instruction.  Tutors are placed in the classroom to become familiar with the course and to work with students under the faculty’s guidance to assist students with understanding course concepts.  In addition, the tutor provides individualized tutoring sessions and group review sessions outside of class time.  While attendance to individualized tutoring or review sessions is kept, student participation is on a voluntary basis.  Faculty members may encourage attendance by awarding participation points or extra credit.  They may also require or strongly recommend attendance for those students that are struggling in the class.
