Learning Commons Laptop and Chromebook Loan Program

The Learning Commons at Delaware County Community College provides students with access to laptop and Chromebook computers for use within the Learning Commons and to borrow for semester use off-campus. Laptops borrowed for use in the Learning Commons should never be left unattended. Students are responsible for any damage or loss of a borrowed device.

Currently enrolled Delaware County Community College students with a DCCC ID. Borrowers who unenroll are required to return devices within five (5) days of dropping their courses.

Laptops or Chromebooks may be checked out in the Learning Commons at the Circulation Desk at all Learning Commons locations.

At Marple, students can walk in during our hours of operation. (Click for Hours)

At all other locations (Southeast, Upper Darby, Downingtown, and Pennocks Bridge), you will need to schedule an appointment: Request Pickup Appointment (Branch centers only)

Walk into any of the Learning Commons locations during hours of operation to return a device. (Click for Hours)

Students will be required to complete and sign a Technology Loan Agreement and have their current DCCC ID with them when they check out a laptop or Chromebook.

  • Laptops and Chromebook may be checked out for the entire academic year if the borrower is registered for consecutive terms.
  • Upon checkout, you will be given a specific due date. Any adjustments or reminders regarding due dates will be sent to your dccc student email. It is strongly recommended keep an eye on your email for official college communications.
Example: A laptop was borrowed in the Fall 2023 semester and the borrower is currently enrolled in the Spring 2024 semester; the required return date is extended to the end of the Spring 2024 term in May. However, at the end of the academic year the device must be returned. If the student has technology needs in Summer or the following Fall term, devices must be returned and exchanged for another device.
  • One laptop or Chromebook per student.
  • A borrower is responsible for the laptop/Chromebook checked out to their account.
  • All items: laptop, charger, and laptop bag must be returned in working condition. If a student is missing or has damaged an item, they will need to pay the replacement cost for that item.
  • Report any lost or damaged technology immediately to the Learning Commons staff.

The Learning Commons at Delaware County Community College understands students need access to reliable technology to ensure they can be successful in their classes. Please note that when you are late returning a laptop or Chromebook, this impacts other students’ ability to access technology they need for class.

Students are responsible for the full replacement cost resulting from loss, theft, or damage to the technology.

Students who return laptops or Chromebook after the five (5) business days as specified by the Emergency Technology Loan agreement will be fined $25.00. The fine will be charged to the student’s tuition account.

After five (5) business days, a student will receive a phone call reminder. If a student is over seven (7) business days late returning a laptop or Chromebook, they will be referred to the Director of Student Conduct and the Department of Safety and Security and charged the full cost of the laptop. The cost of the laptop will be charged to the student’s tuition account which may result in a hold and preventing release of a transcript or registration for additional courses.
