This fall, Library Services is excited to launch a dynamic lineup of workshops and events focused on empowering students with essential digital literacy skills. The programming is designed to help students navigate today’s complex information landscape.

Fall Workshops for Students
Our student-focused workshops are designed to foster critical thinking and practical skills in evaluating digital content. This semester’s offerings include:

  • Exploring Local News: Discover how to find, assess, and engage with trustworthy local news sources.
  • Understanding Open Access: Learn what open access means for students, researchers, and the future of information sharing.
  • Question Everything: Tips for Fact-Checking Like a Pro: Sharpen your skills in verifying information and spotting misinformation online.

New Event Series: Conversations That Matter
In addition to workshops, Library Services is launching a new series of live events aimed at sparking meaningful student conversations about digital information. These events will feature guest speakers addressing timely topics such as:

  • Digital privacy and personal data
  • Public access to government information
  • The evolving role of local news in a healthy democracy

Stay tuned—details and speaker announcements are coming soon!

Earn Your Digital Literacy Credential
Students who participate in these workshops and events will have the opportunity to earn a Digital Literacy Badge—a credential that recognizes their ability to navigate, evaluate, and use digital information effectively.

We encourage faculty and staff to spread the word and support students in connecting classroom learning with real-world challenges. Let’s work together to build a campus culture of informed, thoughtful digital citizens.
